Sanctuary Sweethearts are dogs that are not available for adoption and will spend the rest of their lives with Gentle Giants Rescue and Sanctuary. These dogs represent some of the most difficult and heartbreaking rescues we've been a part of over the years. Our forever dogs are animals with an amazing spirit and will to live but for various reasons, they are not available for adoption. Many of these dogs have long term medical or dietary needs and by sponsoring them, you'll be helping to defray the cost of their care. Your donation will make a huge difference and we THANK YOU from the bottom of our paws to the tips of our ears!

Sophie is a small Pyr girl about 15 years old. She came to Gentle Giants in 2011. Sophie lived a pretty nice life on a farm with her sister until retirement age. As a "retirement gift", her owners dumped her and her sister in a shelter and walked away…. We jumped in to save her and her sister but we were only able to bring Sophie home. She’s an alpha girl and because of that, she’s one of our forever dogs. Consider sponsoring Sophie.. No one deserves to be discarded because of their age….
Mimi is a Great Pyrenees/Retriever mix and came to us from Olympic Animal Sanctuary in January 2014. She’s a wonderfully sweet girl and is loved by everyone who meets her. We don’t know Mimi’s history, but we’ve been told that her life before OAS was pretty grim and that she was chained outside 24/7. We haven't seen any signs of aggression from her, but she needs a lot of TLC, training and care. In the future, Mimi may be available for adoption, but for now, she is one of our forever dogs. Please consider helping Mimi on her road to recovery. She didn't deserve the life she had before and at OAS…….
Turk is a handsome and loving boy. He's an 8 year old Kangal. Kangal's are livestock guardian dogs, originating from the Kangal district in Sivas Province, Turkey. He comes to us from Olympic Animal Sanctuary. Turk’s been through a lot, but has a wonderful personality and disposition on life. He also has a bite history and for that reason, Turk will live his life with Mom Candi and be a sanctuary sweetheart. Like Mimi, he's a wonderful boy and didn't deserve the fate handed to him at OAS. We've been in contact with Turk's former owners and they had no idea about the horrors he experienced at OAS. They were led to believe he was living a wonderful life at the sanctuary. Turk is safe in our care now and will have the love and comforts he deserves. Please consider helping us help Turk.
Huey And Louie are bonded Great Pyrenees mix brothers that are severely handicapped. They are approx 2-3 years old. They were dumped in Green River Animal Shelter in Kentucky and pulled by Gentle Giants the day before they were scheduled to be PTS. Both boys have a neurological issue which causes their front and back legs to not work "together". When they walk, they hop and highstep at the same time. Other than their very unique way of walking, they are normal average boys who love to play These two wonderful goofballs love people, other dogs and pets and will live out their lives with Team GG volunteer Perry and his family. They are safe and loved and enjoyng the good life. Please consider helping us care for them
